Religion

Program Summary

A major in Religion concentrates mostly on the core belief of faith which is a religious belief to most. This portion of the program looks at faith not just from a religious perspective but also from a relational perspective as well as providing students with a clearer understanding of how we are to be in relationship with each other according to the word of God. Students will be educated on the morals, behavior, and social-cultural systems within the institution of religion, learning to identify those who may be operating within a religious norm or as part of the unaffiliated religious demographic. The students will gain first-hand knowledge on how much of an impact religion has on people globally, creating both negative and positive effects. This program is great for those who are open to knowledge about different beliefs but needs a more in-depth understanding of religion in order to be better equipped for the God-ordained calling to ministry.

Program Overview

In this program, students will develop an understanding of religion through a faith-based approach taught from the biblical text using the true word of God. The program explores topics on religious beliefs and lifestyles from the perspective of people while providing a more favorable approach than reflects Christ. This in turn prepares the students for a vocation that is Biblical focus in comparison to a career that is highly focused on religious ordeals. Students will gain the knowledge of how to showcase sound biblical reasonings, with love and compassion when communicating the Gospel of Christ for a clearly witnessing opportunity to the nonbeliever. The purpose of the program is to edify the members within the body of Christ to nurture spiritual and intellectual growth that glorifies God in all things. Upon completion of this program, students will have mastered theological and biblical studies, apologetics, as well as leadership skills that reflect the true teaching of Christ. Students will receive an understanding of the implications of faith, as well as focus on a better understanding of other people and the diversity between different religions that separate them.

Career Field

Graduates are able to apply their knowledge to be more successful in a position as a minister, missionary, evangelist, pastor, and teacher. This major can also help students land a role in the field of legal aid, journalism, writing and editing, government policy, and community development. The overall accomplishment for students is to use the skills learned in this major, to develop and excel in their careers, gaining the knowledge and understanding within the program. For those who have a strong desire to work in a church or worship center, campus ministry, or pursue a career in academics and theology, this program is a great choice. Students looking for a career as a lecturer, Primary and secondary teacher, media religion consultant, or youth worker should consider sitting the “5-Fold Divine Teaching Board Certification”.
