Program Summary

This program helps to prepare and equip students with the skills and knowledge required to function within the ministry as a bookkeeping professional while learning the critical fundamentals of financial stewardship. In this program, you will become trained and prepared to be able to sit for national certification as a bookkeeping professional. The program is designed to develop the student’s knowledge and expertise in online bookkeeping software. Within our lessons, you will learn the formula to function as a payroll clerk, accounting manager, bookkeeping specialist, or any administrative or data entry role within the financial department of a faith-based organization. Most ministries have a need for financial-related individuals; and accuracy is ranked as the number one requirement for ministries and non-profit organizations to maintain compliance. A bookkeeping professional must understand the key principles of documenting all financial transactions accurately while following best practices. It is important to use your skillset to determine and analyze the financial outcomes of an organization’s activities.

Program Overview

It is important to use your skillset to determine and analyze the financial outcomes of the ministry’s daily activities. Upon completing this program, you will be well-rounded in bookkeeping, invoicing, taxes, payroll, balance sheets, and income statements.

The student will gain an understanding of double-entry bookkeeping as well as basic bookkeeping equations; be fully knowledgeable on setting up QuickBooks, record business transactions in QuickBooks, and manage periodic bookkeeping tasks. Students will also acquire a profound understanding of how to audit all financial transactions and perform basic reporting. Students will also learn advanced techniques and in-depth breakdowns and knowledge of business finance, accounting, and bookkeeping.

Certification

Upon successful completion of this program, students would be eligible to sit for the National Association of Certified Professional Bookkeepers (NACPB) Bookkeeper Certification Exam

Career Field

For those pursuing a financial, bookkeeping, or payroll in ministry, this program will help you develop the skills and qualifications needed. Although not a requirement, once students complete the program, they have the ability to participate in experiential learning a hands-on practicum so as to practice the skills necessary to perform the job requirements of a professional in this field. Students will be assisted with completing a resume and/or other requirements necessary to work in this field. All students who complete this program are eligible to participate in an externship and will be placed with a participating organization near their location. After completing this program most of our graduates find that their resumes are more attractive to employers when seeking a bookkeeper and being certified will help to set you apart.
